Our Annual Christmas Party was an incredible time with the entire team!
We had so many laughs and some tears reminiscing about our fantastic year. Secret Santa and White Elephant games were so much fun as well!

The American Dental Association held the first national observance of Children’s Dental Health Day on February 8, 1949. The single day observance became a weeklong event in 1955. And in 1981, the program was extended to a month-long celebration known today as National Children’s Dental Health Month.
“Attitudes and habits established at an early age are critical in maintaining good oral health throughout life. By participating in the annual celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, members of the dental team, parents, teachers and others can help keep children’s smiles beautiful now and for years to come.”
This year’s campaign slogan, is “Water, Nature’s Drink!”
Check out these important facts:
Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease.
3 out of 5 children are affected by tooth decay.
It is 5 times more common than asthma.
51 million school hours are missed due to oral disease.
It is recommended to see the pediatric dentist by your child’s first birthday!
Brush your child’s teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. Then floss to clean in between the teeth. Parents should help with brushing until they can clearly write their own name.
Fluoride helps to make enamel stronger and protects teeth against cavities by fighting acid & erosion.
Avoid sticky snacks like gummies and crackers because those will linger on the teeth longer. Instead, try yogurt, cheese, fruits and veggies!
Water is the best drink for your teeth AND your body!

October is National Dental Hygiene Month!
Dental decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood, affecting 50 percent of children by middle childhood and nearly 70 percent by late adolescence. Luckily, early childhood caries can be easily prevented by instilling a proper oral hygiene routine at an early age. By emphasizing good oral health habits as early as infancy, parents can help lay the foundation for a lifelong, effective oral health routine.
Dental Hygiene Tips:
brush twice daily with fluoridated toothpaste, floss once daily to clean in-between the teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach, and then rinse with fluoride mouth rinse at least once daily to reduce oral bacteria and maintain fresh breath!
We want to thank our awesome dental hygienist, Ms. Allison! She spends quality time with each and every patient during their dental cleanings, educating them on how they can improve their oral hygiene habits at home. She reviews brushing and flossing techniques, and other tips and tricks! We are so thankful for a hygienist that truly cares about our patients and enjoys taking the extra time they need.
Our goal at HPDO is to cultivate relationships with our patients and empower them to have a lifelong beautiful, healthy and confident smile.

Office Reopening Update!
Hello, HPDO family! According to Governor Abbott & the State Dental Board, dental offices can reopen starting Friday, May 1st. In order to complete staff training and have all of our new systems in place for a safe return, we are opening 2 days next week for our “soft reopening.” We will see pediatric dental patients on Wednesday, May 6th and orthodontic patients on Thursday, May 7th.
The week after that, starting on May 11th, we will be seeing our pediatric dental patients on Mon/Tues/Wed and orthodontic patients on Thurs/Fri in order to minimize number of patients in the office at one time. Stay tuned for our schedule after these weeks.

April 20th, 2020 - COVID19 Update
Governor Abbott’s new executive order states that non-emergent dental care must be postponed until after May 8th. If you have an appointment before then, your appointment is cancelled. We will call to reschedule those appointments when we get closer to that date.
We are still here for you for dental or orthodontic emergencies. Please call the office at 713-861-4000 if you need us or have any questions.

Staff Christmas Party
We just love the holiday season and the opportunity to celebrate the wonderful year we have had with our amazing team. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch at Crisp. Dr. Lindhorst Teaches “Healthy Self Image!”
Dr. Lindhorst visited an adorable troop of Girl Scouts this weekend! She taught them about about a “Healthy Self Image” including things like diet, exercise, sleep and hygiene. Mr. Sugarbug was there as well to help with brushing and flossing lessons! We love our Girl Scouts and educating our patients on overall health and wellbeing, no matter what age!
