Summer Dental & Orthodontic Emergencies: We’ve Got Your Back
Summer Dental & Orthodontic Emergencies: We’ve Got Your Back
Summer is full of adventure. Sports, travel, camps, bikes, trampoline, and sometimes, unexpected dental moments. The good news? If something happens, we’re here.
At Heights Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, our doctors are always on call for patient concerns. We don’t use an answering service, so when you call, you’re speaking directly with our team. And if you’re unsure whether something is an emergency, don’t hesitate to reach out, we’d rather you call and feel reassured.
When to call us right away
Call if your child has:
Dental pain that doesn’t go away
Swelling, bleeding, or visible injury to the gums or teeth
Trauma from sports, biking, falls, or active play
A permanent tooth that is chipped, broken, or knocked out
If a permanent tooth is completely knocked out, time matters, contact us immediately so we can guide you through next steps.
What can usually wait
Some issues, like small ulcers, minor soreness, or broken brackets, can often wait until the next business day. Orthodontic wax can help with poking wires or irritation.
Orthodontic summer hiccups
Braces can be sensitive to summer activity. Loose brackets or bands that come off are usually not urgent, but anything causing significant discomfort or poking should be addressed with a quick call so we can help.
Bottom line
Most situations aren’t true emergencies, but you never have to figure that out alone. If you’re unsure, take a photo and call us. We’re here to help keep your child comfortable, safe, and smiling all summer long.
Even during the busiest summer days, you can count on us.
